Committal of Ashes to the River

As one of the few uniformed organisations and quite possibly the only uniformed charity that commit to ashes to the River in the London region we often provide this service to the relatives of former maritime and nautical service personnel and enthusiasts of the sea. Often committing the ashes of loved one to the River is a fitting tribute to those who have sadly passed away and who during their life enjoyed or committed part of their life to the sea. We have also committed ashes to other bodies of water such as the Welsh Harp.

For example a loved one may have been a former member of:

  • The Royal Navy, Royal Navy Reserve or Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve
  • The Royal Naval or Maritime Auxiliary Service
  • The Merchant Navy or Royal Fleet Auxiliary
  • The Coastguard or Royal National Lifeboat Institute
  • One of the many other maritime and nautical organisations

Or maybe the departed was a keen yachts-person, leisure sailor or simply lived by or enjoyed the sea. Alternatively the Committal of Ashes may be a religious requisite or preference.

No two committals are the same and we have experience of many types of committals and faiths, therefore we invite you to contact us to discuss your requirements. In the meantime if you would like further information please download the following document (Click here).

The MVS is a registered charity and relies entirely on donations and providing these services to fund itself.
